Events for Computer Science Unplugged include workshops and seminars for educators, and shows for children. If you are running an event that would be of interest to the Unplugged community, please let us know so that we can mention it here.

 

Events for Kids

Computer Science Unplugged shows for kids are held all over the world at schools, universities and science museums. They use the activities from this site, modified to suit a live environment with lots of audience participation.

  • Binary BitsTim demonstrates how binary numbers are stored. This is based on the first activity in the "Unplugged" book, but each child holds one of the bits, which makes for much more exciting numbers.
  • Sorting NetworkStudents at a New Zealand School try the Sorting Networks activity outdoors, using a chalk network.
 

Events for Grown-ups

Teacher workshops focus on enrichment and extension material for classes of all ages (new entrants to high school), and explores Computer Science in a fun way without using computers.

  • University of Alabama at BirminghamDiscussing Unplugged at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
  • Japan BattleshipsTeachers at a workshop in Japan try the Battleships activity.

Lynn Lambert and Peter Henderson are presenting an Unplugged tutorial at CCSCE 2008, the Eastern Conference of the Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges.

日 10月 12, 2008 Unplugged in Asia
Workshop to share ideas and work on promoting Unplugged in China/Korea/Japan. Come to the workshop, and then go to a conference on the Yangtze river on 14 October (APTC2008).
